Goals are important in life to keep moving forward. We are all in this world for a reason. The sooner you discover your reason, the better off you and the world are. Goals begin with an interest that is sparked within you. For example, you might see someone struggling and immediately get the urge to want to help him/her. That's where the interest begins. The path you take to achieve your goals is yours and yours alone. There may be mentors and help along the way, but ultimately it is up to you. You may decide to volunteer at a food drive. You may decide to work in a senior living facility. You may decide to further your education. All of which are great steps forward, but without a main goal in mind, you may be running aimlessly. This is when the goal becomes more significant. You already know that you want to help people. You already know that your passion to do so is more than just a mere interest. Now, you pinpoint what your actual goal is. It could be to become a nurse. It could be to create an organization that helps the homeless off the streets. It could be anything that you want it to be. You are not creating a goal to make your family proud or meet the status quo. You are creating a goal to please your soul. Your goal is about achieving your life's purpose. Your goal should create a day-to-day that you love to wake up to. Once you are in harmony with what you are doing with your life, you find a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment and happiness.
This is not to say that everyone will want to be an astronaut, a doctor, an activist or any other highly regarded title. The truth is that whatever is highly regarded to you is what is important. You facilitate your life as well as the lives of others. Once you find your purpose and do it with all your being, you have accomplished your goal(s). Perception is crucial. Many may be interested in the status quo and there is nothing wrong with that, if it is what they want. You may want to take a humbler route and that's great, if that is what you want. Your goal may be to become the best father or mother to your children; the best spouse for your significant other. It may be to be the best bank teller in town. It may be to become a singer. There is no limit to what your hearts desire is and once you discover what it is, you've found your purpose. If you are in tune with it, whatever it is, it is right. The world needs everyone.
In short, don't take your interests lightly, they could be the foundation of your life's purpose. You owe it to yourself and to the Universe to discover whether or not it is what you are meant to do. If it's not, you're not done searching for inspiration. You will have many interests, but only the one(s) you are passionate about will lead you to your destiny.
Interest > Exploring different avenue's within that interest > Noticing or developing a passion and/or talent > Carrying out the tasks/short term goals to ultimately achieve your main goal, no matter the trials and tribulations > Achieving your goal(s) and knowing your PURPOSE.
